Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

A rewarding opportunity has arisen for a permanent full time Student Disability and Wellbeing Advisor at our EIT | Te Pūkenga business division located in Hawkes Bay. This role will develop and foster a holistic and multi-disciplinary approach to support student disability, mental health and wellbeing needs.

The appointing salary for this role will be between $60,000 and $70,000, dependent on skills and experience.

The Student Disability and Wellbeing Advisor role is based at EIT | Te Pūkenga reporting to the Learner Support Services Manager and will be responsible for: 

  • Promoting disability and wellbeing services to students while assisting staff identify and meet professional development needs to enrich the students learning experiences.
  • Assisting the manager in developing and implementing a multi-year strategic plan for the active provision of services to students with disabilities or mental health issues
  • Working with the Disability and Wellbeing team and providing a learning environment that is welcoming and valuing students from diverse backgrounds, and supporting and enhancing the student learning experience
  • Acting as a referral point, providing expert advice, support and problem-solving techniques for colleagues working with students facing mental health difficulties
  • Actively promoting the disability and wellbeing services available to students across all of EIT’s locations including online professional resources and networks designed to connect students with self-help and support services

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification, preferably in the areas of disability, mental health or counselling
  • Current full driver’s license
  • Proven ability and expertise in designing, developing and providing disability and mental wellbeing support to students in the tertiary education environment
  • An understanding and appreciation of cultural matters and values and a commitment to the development of a culturally sensitive working environment
