Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

The Student Accommodation Assistant is a permanent part-time 0.6FTE position that supports the management of student-focused accommodation services at EIT. This role ensures cleanliness, timely maintenance, and provides pastoral care to promote resident wellbeing. It involves close collaboration with internal teams such as Student Support, Facilities, and People & Culture, as well as external contractors and industry bodies. 

The appointing salary for this role will be between $55,000 and $65,000, dependent on skills and experience.
The Student Accommodation Assistant is based at Hawkes Bay, reporting to the Student Accommodation Manager. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with processing accommodation applications and maintaining accurate records.
  • Ensure accommodation units are clean, well-presented, and equipped prior to new arrivals.
  • Conduct resident inductions and provide ongoing support throughout their stay.
  • Perform routine inspections, report maintenance issues, and liaise with Facilities for resolution.
  • Promote wellbeing and safety through regular checks and pastoral care in line with the Code of Practice.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in administration or customer service.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Physical fitness for duties including lifting.
  • Full NZ Driver’s Licence.
  • (Desired) Experience in accommodation industry and practical facilities skills.
  • Strong communication skills and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
