Casual Stevedoring Opportunities
We are seeking applications from hardworking individuals to join our Stevedoring division in the loading and unloading of vessels. We are a 24/7 operation with shifts commencing at any time of the day or night.
This role will have you trained up in the handling of logs, containers and cars. From time to time there is also maintenance work available, especially if you have any specialised skills.
As a casual the work is irregular, with no set shifts and is best suited to individuals seeking part-time or occasional work which can fit around their other responsibilities.
What's in it for you
This is a busy hands-on, manual role so if you like physical activity and want a work out while you get paid this could be for you! The other great thing is that being a casual position, this gives you part-time or occasional work which can fit around the other important things in your life.
And crucially, we take your health and safety very seriously. Which is something that should mean a lot to you.
Something About You
First and foremost, you will be someone who is fully focused on safe work practices and the care of cargo. Ideally you will have worked in a stevedoring or warehouse facility before. However if not, full training will be provided. Other important stuff about you:
Please be aware that all new employees becoming part of the border workforce, specifically those commencing in port-side roles covered by the current Public Health Order (PHO), must have had at least their first vaccination dosage BEFORE starting work with Port Nelson. The second vaccination must be administered within 35 days of the first. Consequently, if you are offered a role covered by this PHO, you will be entitled to receive a priority vaccination.
We operate a drug and alcohol testing programme.
We need to move quickly and will be assessing applications as they are received so please apply ASAP. For more info, call Jacqui on 027 734 0113 (no text messages please).
