Software Engineer – Cards and Payments APIs & Integrations
Permanent Full Time
Auckland/Wellington and Taranaki locations will be considered

We’re looking for a hands-on Software Engineer who enjoys building applications, connecting systems through APIs, and improving how things work behind the scenes to seamlessly support a Cards and Payments platform.
You’ll work closely with the team to design, build, deploy and support applications that keep our services running smoothly. This role mixes development, problem‑solving and support, with plenty of opportunity to share ideas and make improvements.

What you’ll be doing

  • Build and improve applications and API integrations that deliver real business value
  • Help shape solutions by contributing technical ideas during planning and discovery
  • Write, test and deploy code across testing and production environments
  • Make sure security, performance and data quality are always a priority
  • Help improve our dev and deployment tools (CI/CD, automation, processes)
  • Monitor systems to keep services running within agreed SLAs
  • Jump in to fix incidents and problems when they happen
  • Take part in a 24/7 on‑call support roster (shared within the team)

What we’re looking for

  • 3+ years’ experience as a Software Engineer
  • Strong skills in Java and/or .NET, plus Python
  • 2+ years working in Agile, cross‑functional teams
  • Hands‑on experience building and working in API‑led environments
  • Relevant tech certifications (foundation to associate level)
  • Clear communicator with good planning and negotiation skills
  • Experience in financial services is a bonus
