Automotive Sales and Repair

Cooke Howlison has a dedicated heavy truck service facility specialising in the maintenance, servicing, and repair of Scania and Isuzu trucks. As part of one of New Zealand’s largest independently owned motor groups, Cooke Howlison has established itself as a respected industry leader with a strong focus on outstanding customer service.

We are seeking a highly motivated, customer‑focused individual to join our team as a Service Advisor.

This role is central to keeping our operation running smoothly, with the successful applicant performing a wide variety of essential tasks that ensure we continue to function as a well‑oiled machine. As the first point of contact for our service customers, you’ll deliver an exceptional experience from the moment they make contact — managing bookings and enquiries courteously, preparing repair orders and documentation accurately, and confirming all work is authorised before commencement.

You’ll keep customers informed throughout the process, clearly communicating job progress, any changes required, and confidently explaining completed work and associated charges. The position also requires ensuring all jobs are invoiced correctly, working positively and collaboratively within the team and across departments, and keeping the Manager updated on any issues that may affect service quality or operational efficiency.

This is an exciting and rare opportunity to work in the heavy‑vehicle industry without a hands‑on‑tools requirement.

To be successful in this position, you will:

  • Have experience in the heavy‑vehicle sector, with any relevant automotive background considered an advantage.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team and contributing positively to a busy workshop environment.
  • Demonstrate strong customer focus and excellent communication skills.
  • Have solid computer and administration skills.

The job also requires that you:

  • Have New Zealand Residency or a valid New Zealand work visa.
  • Hold a current, clean NZ driver’s licence (Class 2–5 also preferred).

Cooke Howlison offers excellent working conditions, a competitive remuneration package, and the opportunity to work within a great team.

We’re reviewing applications as they arrive, and the closing date might shift earlier. If you’re thinking about applying, now’s the time.
