Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

This is a full‑time, permanent Senior Systems Support Technician role providing advanced level 1 and 2 technical support across EIT. The role supports Digital initiatives, mentors team members, coordinates service desk incidents, and acts as a senior escalation point to help improve service delivery and the technology experience for ākonga (students) and kaimahi (staff).

The appointing salary for this role will be between $65,206 and $76,548, dependent on skills and experience.

The Senior Systems Support Technician is based in Hawke’s Bay, sits within the Digital function, and reports to the Digital Support Team Leader.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and resolving service desk incidents and acting as an escalation point for complex technical issues
  • Providing front-line and remote technical support for approved end-user hardware, software, and network connectivity
  • Taking technical ownership of the service desk system, including configuration, optimisation, reporting, and continuous improvement
  • Mentoring and supporting Systems Support Technicians through guidance, knowledge sharing, and technical leadership
  • Contributing to Digital projects, service improvement initiatives, and incident triage activities

He kōrero mōu | About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • 4–5+ years’ experience in IT service delivery, including experience as a senior practitioner and mentor
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, and Azure AD / Entra ID
  • Experience working in ITIL-aligned service desk environments
  • Strong problem-solving ability with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively, mentor others, and act as a senior technical escalation point
