VisionWest Home Healthcare is an established provider of quality Homebased care. In the role of Senior Support Worker - Disability Support, you would need to assist and provide support to the Team Leader in the implementation of quality, safe, culturally appropriate and coherent services to a client with disabilities. The Senior Support Worker will be responsible to assist with providing the required services within the home of the client they support.  

Our Support Workers go into the homes of our Client to assist with activities of daily living , household management, meal preparation, shopping and community engagements. We provide support to people who are elderly, have a physical and/or mental disabilities, high medical needs and/or challenging behaviour.

This is a fast-paced role in a busy environment that requires great organising skills and the ability to think on your feet.

For this position you need:

  • Preferred experience in providing community-based support to people, living at home to preserve their independence, dignity and improve their quality of life.
  • An understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of home based and community support, disability support and the rights of people receiving support in their own homes
  • Cultural awareness
  • Understanding of the impact of long-term illness/disability and terminal conditions
  • Have or be actively working towards Certificate in Health & Wellbeing ( Level 2-4 )
  • A high level of organising skills and preferably rostering experience
  • Database and administration skills
  • Problem solving skills combined with the ability to provide responsive person-centred solutions
  • The ability to listen empathetically while managing communications professionally and efficiently
  • Excellent, clear spoken and written English
  • A calm, flexible attitude and the ability to multi task
  • To be a great team player who enjoys supporting others in their work
  • A full driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
  • Able to do an over night shift 
  • Clear police record is essential
  • Practical common sense, initiative and the willingness to learn
  • A reliable, trustworthy and confident disposition
