At Te Kura Matatini ki Otago | Otago Polytechnic, we are looking for an experienced People and Culture professional who enjoys being at the centre of a busy team. You will be the first point of contact for a wide range of people and culture queries, providing responsive service, practical first-level advice and high-quality coordination across the employee journey.

This is a varied senior co-ordination role for someone who can move confidently between employment documentation, recruitment support, professional development, employment relations activity and team projects. You will anticipate needs, keep work moving and look for smart ways to improve systems and the experience of our kaimahi.

Mō te tūraka mahi | About the role

Reporting to the People and Culture Manager, you will work in partnership with the wider People and Culture team and leaders across the organisation. You will prepare accurate employment documentation and correspondence, manage enquiries and records, support recruitment and selection, coordinate development and wellbeing activity, and contribute to employment relations and change processes.

You will also help maintain current policies and procedures, support our people systems and induction activities, and identify opportunities to streamline processes. Success in this role will be seen in future-focused, accurate and efficient support that enables a positive experience for kaimahi and leaders.

You are probably someone who:

· Builds trusted relationships and communicates clearly with people at all levels.

· Takes pride in producing accurate, professional employment documentation.

· Uses sound judgement, initiative and discretion when handling sensitive information.

· Can manage competing priorities, work under pressure and follow through on commitments.

· Enjoys improving processes and finding practical, customer-focused solutions.

· Works collaboratively while being confident to manage tasks independently.

We would love to hear from you if you have:

· A relevant graduate-level qualification in Human Resources, Health and Safety, Business Administration or a related field.

· Experience in a People, Culture and Wellbeing team providing specialised co-ordination support.

· Sound knowledge and practical experience of New Zealand employment legislation and people practices.

· Experience preparing employment documentation and supporting recruitment and selection processes.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent organisation and close attention to detail.

· An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in the workplace, with a commitment to equity and the needs of priority groups.

· A high level of professional and ethical conduct, with a flexible, positive and service-focused approach.

Experience in a tertiary or large organisation, and confidence using a Human Resource Information System, would be an advantage.
