Senior People & Culture Business Partner (6-month fixed term position)

Christchurch

Southern Cross Christchurch Hospital is the largest hospital within Southern Cross Healthcare’s national network and easily accessed within central Christchurch. The hospital consists of ten digital operating theatres, 85 inpatient beds, and employs over 350 highly skilled and trained staff to ensure patients receive high quality care.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

As our Senior People & Culture Business Partner, you'll be a trusted advisor to the General Manager and hospital Senior Leadership team, to shape the future of our people and our business. You'll combine strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to deliver impactful people solutions, strengthen leadership capability, build high-performing teams and drive initiatives that enhance employee engagement and organisational performance.

Working at the heart of the business, you'll provide expert advice across workforce planning, organisational design, talent, remuneration, change management and complex employment relations. You'll coach and challenge leaders, helping them confidently navigate performance, investigations, restructures and organisational change, while designing and delivering practical leadership development that equips managers with the skills to lead with confidence.

This is a full-time 6-month fixed term position based in our Christchurch Hospital although we are open to part time hours (over 0.6FTE). The role will report to the Head of People & Culture Business Partnering with a dotted line to the General Manager, Southern Cross Hospital Christchurch, and will be a core member of the hospital Senior Leadership team. 

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • 5+ years' experience as a Senior HR or People & Culture Business Partner supporting executive and senior leadership teams.
  • Proven experience lifting leadership capability through coaching, mentoring and manager development programmes.
  • Extensive employment relations expertise, including complex case management, investigations, restructures and organisational change.
  • Demonstrated success leading organisational change, transformation and culture initiatives.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to align people strategies to business outcomes.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence, challenge and build trusted relationships at all levels.
  • Experience working across complex, matrix organisations with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills, sound judgement and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline.
  • Healthcare or other highly regulated industry experience is advantageous.
