About the role I Mō te Tūranga  

As our Senior People & Culture Business Partner, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the people experience across the Institute of Directors. This role blends strategic leadership with meaningful, hands‑on support across the full employee lifecycle - from workforce planning and organisational design through to performance, reward, wellbeing, engagement, and employment relations. 

You’ll work closely with leaders as a trusted advisor, coach, and thought partner, supporting them to build high‑performing, values‑aligned teams. Drawing on data, insights and sound judgement, you'll influence decision‑making, help navigate change, and lift capability across the organisation. 

You will also lead key programmes across talent management, induction and onboarding, culture and engagement, remuneration and reward, and ensure our people systems, processes and policies are effective, compliant, and continuously improving. 

About you I Mōhou ake  

You’re an experienced HR professional - collaborative, confident, and motivated by helping people and organisations thrive. With at least 8 years’ generalist experience across areas such as employment relations, development, reward, or recruitment, you bring both strategic insight and practical expertise. 

You build trusted relationships with ease and are known for your sound judgement, discretion, and ability to navigate complex people matters with empathy and professionalism. You understand how to balance people, culture, risk, and commercial outcomes and you consistently model manaakitanga, curiosity, and integrity in your work. 

You’ll also bring: 

  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice 
  • A future‑focused, innovative and solutions‑oriented mindset 
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills 
  • High digital capability and confidence working across multiple systems 
  • A proactive, organised and self‑managing approach 
  • Commitment to inclusivity, cultural competence and continuous learning 
  • HRNZ membership (chartered or on the pathway) is preferred.
