Our Te Wairua programmes provide support utilizing a modified “Therapeutic Community” approach for tāngata whai ora (people seeking wellness) who are living with mental health challenges as well as alcohol/drug dependency. 

We have a vacancy for a Senior Mental Health AOD Clinician to join our Te Wairua residential service in Royal Oak. You will have a key role in providing clinical assistance to tāngata whai ora, advice and support to other clinicians as well as support to the Clinical Manager, to help ensure best practice clinical services are delivered. 

The days of work will be Monday to Friday, with rostered on-call responsibilities every 4-6 weeks, which is compensated for by an extra week of annual leave and payment for any additional hours worked.

Our idea candidate will have:

  • A relevant tertiary (L7) qualification e.g. in addictions, social work or mental health
  • A minimum of two years relevant experience working in the AOD / mental health field
  • Registration with Dapaanz, SWRB or other relevant professional body
  • Strong experience in motivational interviewing, clinical assessment and risk management 
  • Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and interest in tikanga Māori and Pacific customs
  • Strong relationship management, communication and facilitation skills
  • A willingness to embrace the Therapeutic Community (TC) model
  • Skills in group and individual therapy
  • A full, clean NZ driver's licence
