The role

Reporting to the Manager – People Development this is a great opportunity to hone your Learning & Development skills in an iconic company that is committed to helping you grow and succeed!

As our Senior Learning & Development Specialist your primary responsibility is to lead the end‑to‑end delivery of learning projects and measure their business impact —scoping, designing, and implementing learning solutions that build organisational capability and enable consistent, future‑ready performance.

Based at our Head Office in Palmerston North, this role will see you working alongside both our Store Network and our Head Office. As such it has loads of variety and no two days will be the same!

If you're ready to make a real impact and help steer the business forward, this is a great role for you!

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting TNA discovery workshops and scoping sessions
  • Analysing context and content, identifying gaps and determining optimal learning
  • Designing engaging, effective, and innovative learning solutions using sound instructional design principles
  • Creating learning artefacts including digital learning modules, learning activities and simulations and facilitator guides

About You:

As our Senior Learning & Development Specialist you will be passionate about creating learning that actually sticks! You love turning business challenges into engaging, practical learning experiences that make a real difference. Whether it’s digital, blended, or print, you produce high-quality materials you’re proud of, and you’re comfortable using modern learning technologies and LMS platforms to bring ideas to life.

You’re great at asking the right questions, digging into what’s really needed, and defining clear, measurable outcomes. From initial scoping through to launch, you can manage learning projects end-to-end — keeping timelines on track, stakeholders engaged, and risks under control.

Naturally curious and full of initiative, you’re always looking for smarter, more creative ways to improve the learner experience. And when things get complex? You have a knack for making them simple, clear, and even a little bit fun for any audience.

You will also have:

  • Proven experience designing and developing end-to-end learning solutions (digital, blended, ILT/VILT), including scoping, storyboarding, prototyping, building and iterating
  • Demonstrated experience conducting training needs analyses (TNA)
  • Experience managing L&D projects from concept to deployment
  • Hands on experience using modern learning technologies

At Toyota New Zealand we value our team and are proud to offer:

  • Excellent growth and development opportunities
  • Fantastic job security
  • Payment of your practicing certificate and associated professional development
  • Southern Cross Health insurance
  • 4%+ KiwiSaver contribution
  • Discretionary staff bonuses
  • Staff discounts across our range of products
  • A subsidised café onsite and free parking
  • Opportunity to work in a global organisation where people are the heart of everything we do
  • Work in a team with an EXCEPTIONAL culture
