About the role  

As Senior Grounds Maintenance, you will bring strong horticultural and grounds maintenance experience to the day‑to‑day upkeep of the Skyline Rotorua site, ensuring the grounds are maintained to an exceptional standard. This is a hands‑on role that combines practical expertise with the ability to effectively plan and prioritise grounds‑related work across the week. 

We are looking for someone who is proactive, enjoys getting stuck in, and brings a practical, solutions‑focused approach to their work. This role is typically worked Monday to Friday, between 7.00am and 3.30pm, with flexibility as required by seasonal needs and projects.  

The perfect candidate will be: 

  • Experienced in horticulture, gardening, or grounds maintenance (essential)  
  • A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, confident engaging with both team members and guests 
  • Confident managing people and experienced in task delegation 
  • Physically fit, as this role involves heavy lifting and outdoor work in varying conditions  
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team  
  • Positive and proactive, with a genuine ‘can do’ attitude and pride in maintaining high standards of work 
  • Hold a full, clean driver’s licence (essential); a digger licence is advantageous 

Responsibilities Include:  

  • Using sound horticultural, gardening, and grounds maintenance knowledge to effectively plan, coordinate and carry out day‑to‑day grounds maintenance work  
  • Managing and caring for on-site stock and animals, including daily welfare checks, feeding, and general upkeep 
  • Ensuring the grounds and site appearance are maintained to a consistently high standard through cleaning, rubbish collection, landscaping, gardening, and general site maintenance  
  • Supporting and executing the delivery of landscaping and improvement projects  
  • Reporting any equipment or machinery requiring maintenance or repair  
  • Communicating effectively with internal departments to support site operations and respond to operational needs
