We are seeking an experienced Senior Finance Business Partner to join our dynamic team at Horowhenua District Council in Levin, Horowhenua. This role will see you providing high-level strategic financial advisory services and support to our business units, enabling them to make informed decisions that align with our overall organisational objectives; providing real value where it matters.

Ngā mahi ka mahia e koe  - What you'll be doing

  • Partnering with business units to understand their financial performance, risks and opportunities, and providing expert advice and recommendations
  • Preparing comprehensive management reports, budgets and forecasts to enable informed decision-making
  • Conducting in-depth analysis of financial data and identifying areas for improvement or optimisation
  • Advising on the financial implications of new initiatives, projects and business strategies  
  • Partnering with the Strategic Planning Team to lead the organisational budgeting process
  • Building strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation
  • Mentoring and developing more junior members of the finance team

He kōrero mōu - About you 

  • Solid experience in a senior finance role, preferably within the local government sector
  • Extensive knowledge of management accounting principles, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis and the modelling thereof
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to interpret complex financial information for non-financial stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships
  • Proven track record of driving continuous improvement and adding value to the business
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in finance, accounting or a related field
  • Strong proficiency in using financial systems and data analytics tools
