The Co-operative Bank

About Us

The Co-operative Bank is a different kind of bank. We’re here to change banking for good.

Since 1928, our customers have been at the heart of everything we do, and we’re focused on helping New Zealander’s get ahead financially.

Whether it’s help from one of our friendly teams, or a seamless experience with one of our digital solutions, we’ve got our customers covered. To top it off, we’re the only bank in New Zealand that shares its profits with its customers. It’s all part of the co-operative difference.

Here, no two days are the same. Our people are empowered to innovate, share ideas and let our skills take us in unexpected and exciting directions. But most importantly, we can be ourselves at work; we have fun, but still get things done.

About the role

As part of our development team you’ll be working within one of our squads to deliver features and enhance our Digital systems such as online banking, mobile apps and staff facing systems. Keeping our solutions and processes up to date is key and we look to everyone in the team to support continuous improvement.

We need developers that love to take ownership, work independently and excel within a relatively small but high performing team of developers across a range of technologies.

Because The Co-operative Bank is owned by our customers, everything we do, every day, is for their benefit.

Key responsibilities

  • Delivering features working across the full technology stack for a range of systems. This will involve a mix of API, front-end and cloud based development as required
  • Working closely with your squad and product owner to understand the current goals and challenges we face
  • Collaboration across the wider development team to understand, follow and develop our standards and practices
  • Automation of tests and integration to improve productivity and deliver changes safely and fast.

You’ll bring the following experience to the table:

  • Experience in .NET (or equivalent) frameworks is essential, including API development and common design patterns such as MVC, DI, etc.
  • Confident in a range of related technologies and concepts – AWS/Azure, SQL, Networking, CI/CD, Cloud
  • Enthusiasm to talk about code and software development, following advice from our leads/architects and participating in discussion regularly about how we develop

In return for your passion and commitment to helping us Change Banking for Good, we offer an outstanding work environment, ongoing training and the opportunity to work with people who are passionate about making a difference. You’ll be amazed by our non-hierarchal organisation and the ease at which you can get things done.  If this sounds like the role you’ve been looking for, in a place you could call home, get in touch!
