Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

This role plays a pivotal role in supporting the growth and success of Māori businesses by providing tailored banking solutions, strategic advice, and relationship management. The successful candidate will work closely with iwi, hapū, and Māori enterprises to understand their unique aspirations, governance structures, and values.

Ko wai koe? | Who are you?

You are a confident relationship-builder with the energy and initiative to drive business performance through deep engagement with Māori clients, iwi, hapū, and the wider business community. You will bring a strengths-based approach to forging enduring, mana-enhancing partnerships.

You will bring a strong grasp of Te Ao Māori in a commercial setting, with demonstrated experience working alongside Māori businesses and/or iwi and hapū entities. Proficiency in te reo Māori and tikanga Māori is essential, or a clear and committed pathway toward cultural fluency.

You will be recognised as a trusted professional who understands and supports the unique aspirations of Māori clients. With a high level of commercial acumen you will stay attuned to the broader shifts across te ōhanga Māori, the broader economy, governance, and innovation.

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to identify new revenue opportunities through existing clients and prospects.
  • Consider opportunities in the Māori economy, partnerships with iwi, hapū, and Māori business networks.
  • Monitor competitor and market conditions and provide recommendations to support in the development of timely and profitable strategies.
  • Develop and provide tailored strategies and unique solutions by understanding client’s current and future growth objectives.
  • Role model and support growth across the team in Te Reo Māori me ōna tikanga.

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • 10+ years in a banking / financial services with at least 5 years working in a commercial finance role
  • Proven interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication, discovery, networking and sales capability
