Crown Law’s purpose is to serve New Zealand by supporting the Government to operate lawfully.

Crown Law’s functions are:

- Supporting the Law Officers of the Crown
- Leading the government legal profession
- Overseeing public prosecutions
- Providing legal services to Government

Crown Law provides legal advice and representation services to the Government in matters affecting the executive government. The services Crown Law provides include matters covering judicial review of government actions, constitutional questions including Te Tiriti o Waitangi/Treaty of Waitangi issues, the enforcement of criminal law, and the protection of revenue. Crown Law also administers the prosecution process in the criminal justice system, in particular, Crown prosecutions.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

Help lead and deliver organisational change and business improvement initiatives across Crown Law. This role plays a key part in delivering priority change initiatives, improving organisational processes, and building capability across the business.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and deliver organisational change projects utilising the Organisational Change and Improvement Team’s structured approach.
- Support process management, maintain improvement registers, drive process improvement activities, and support capability uplift.
- Apply project management practices, including risk management, progress reporting, and governance.
- Develop and lead communications and engagement for change initiatives.
- Design and deliver training to support successful implementation.

The ideal candidate will have:

- Proven experience delivering business change or improvement initiatives.
- Strong facilitation, communication, and relationship‑building skills.
- Understanding of process management and continuous improvement approaches.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, Prince2, CCMP) are preferred.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Visio, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent planning, organisation, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

You will be methodical, detail‑focused, able to manage multiple priorities, and confident working both independently and as part of a team to deliver complex change initiatives.

Location: Te Whanganui-a-Tara | Wellington

This role is Wellington based and located next to Wellington bus and train station.

Remuneration and Benefits

- A starting salary range of between $111,979 and $138,529 with further room to progress. The appointing salary will be based on skills and experience.
- An annual wellness payment;
- 5 weeks annual leave plus 3 additional leave days (Crown Law days);
