Science Sales Specialist – General Laboratory Solutions

Alphatech Systems is a leading supplier of high-quality technical and medical instruments, reagents, and consumables to research, testing, hospital, and industrial laboratories across New Zealand.

We are currently seeking a dynamic and broadly skilled Sales Specialist with expertise in Microscopy, Spectroscopy, Materials Science, & general laboratory products. This is an exciting opportunity to manage and grow a nationwide portfolio of clients, working collaboratively with our experienced sales team. Our clients include universities, research institutions, and industrial organisations.

While Auckland-based candidates are preferred, applications from residents of Wellington and Christchurch will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive sales and promote solutions for allocated products across your designated territory.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, delivering exceptional service and support.
  • Identify new business opportunities and nurture leads through regular client visits and follow-ups.
  • Develop in-depth product knowledge and understand customer applications and needs.
  • Provide accurate monthly activity reports and sales forecasts.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and long-term success.

About You:

  • You’ll hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant scientific field or bring substantial experience in research or commercial science.
  • Hands-on experience with Microscopy, Spectroscopy, or Materials Science will be highly regarded.
  • Previous experience in field sales or account management is advantageous.
  • You’re self-motivated, results-driven, and thrive on building new relationships — not waiting for leads to come to you!
  • You enjoy being out in the field, meeting clients face-to-face, and actively uncovering new business opportunities.
  • You possess strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with a genuine commitment to delivering service excellence.
  • You hold a full driver’s licence and have access to a suitable vehicle (with a car allowance and mileage provided).
  • You’re willing and able to travel regularly within NZ (and occasionally internationally when required).
