The role    

We are currently seeking an expert knowledgeable in mātauranga Māori to join the Science team in the Strategy, Regulatory and Science group as a Science Advisor - Mātauranga Māori. 

This is a permanent full-time position located in Palmerston North. This role will work with a team of scientists, policy experts and tangata whenua, to lead the incorporation of mātauranga Māori knowledge and values into the monitoring, research and reporting undertaken by the Science team.  

About you  

We seek candidates with a deep understanding of Te Ao Māori and mātauranga Māori, with a focus on Te Taiao. Candidates should have proven experience maintaining and developing relationships with tangata whenua and a range of other stakeholders; and have a working knowledge or better of Te Reo Māori. Our ideal candidate may additionally have a tertiary qualification in a field related to environmental science; and experience working under a resource management framework.
