Niagara Sawmilling Company Ltd
Transportation and Logistics

Since 1935, Niagara has grown from a small Southland timber operation into one of New Zealand's leading timber processing and supply businesses. Today, our products are used in building projects throughout New Zealand and exported to customers around the world.

We are looking for a Sales & Customer Support Team Member to join our Kennington-based team. This role sits at the centre of our operation, working closely with customers, sales representatives, production teams, and distribution staff to keep orders moving and information flowing.

This is a full-time, permanent role for someone who enjoys variety and takes satisfaction in making things happen behind the scenes. You will be helping customers, processing orders, managing information, supporting stock planning, and coordinating with different areas of the business to ensure products are delivered as expected.

One day hour involve helping a merchant with an urgent order, resolving a delivery issue, and coordinating stock availability with production. Another could see you forecasting inventory requirements, proofing invoices, and assisting the sales team with customer requests. You will be the central point of contact between our South Island customers, sales team, production teams, and distribution operations. You will play an important role in ensuring orders are processed accurately, stock is effectively managed, and customers receive exceptional service every step of the way.

While highly customer-focused, this role is primarily desk-based and systems-centric. Much of your day will involve working within business systems, managing information, coordinating workflows, and maintaining the accurate flow of information between customers and internal teams. Rather than high-volume transactional customer service, you will develop long-standing relationships with a regular customer base, building strong rapport and becoming a trusted point of contact who understands their business and requirements.

This role is a unique blend of customer relations, administration, coordination, and problem-solving, with full training provided. We know the skills needed to succeed here are not limited to one industry, and strong candidates often come from a wide range of backgrounds. Whether you have built your experience in customer service, sales support, logistics, retail, hospitality, administration, or a trade environment, we would welcome the opportunity to hear from you.

For someone looking to transition from a hands-on trade, manufacturing, or operational role into a commercially focused office-based position, this could be an excellent stepping stone. The role provides exposure to sales, operations, planning, logistics, and customer management, creating opportunities for future career development within the business. You will be joining a close-knit, experienced local team where people genuinely support one another, share knowledge, and work together to achieve great outcomes. We take pride in fostering a positive team culture where hard work is recognised, learning is encouraged, and people are given opportunities to grow.

While industry experience is an advantage, we are looking for someone who is organised, customer-focused, and solutions-driven. You will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a professional and proactive approach. Most importantly, you will enjoy working collaboratively, take ownership of your work, and be committed to delivering outstanding service to both customers and teammates.

The role offers plenty of exposure to different areas of the business, making it a great opportunity for someone who enjoys learning, building broad commercial experience, and developing a long-term career with a successful and proudly local business that continues to invest in both people and plant.

Please apply online, including both your CV and cover letter. For any questions about the role or confidential inquiries, please contact our HR team at careers@niagara.nz.

Any offer of employment will be conditional upon the satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks, including drug testing.
