Safety, Quality and Risk Manager 

North Harbour Hospital

Southern Cross’ North Harbour hospital is looking for an experienced Quality Manager to join their fun, dynamic and professional team. This is an opportunity to play a significant role in the ongoing improvement of the patient journey and staff safety. This role will walk alongside all our services to enable the delivery of excellence in quality and ensure we can provide a safe service that is efficient and effective. North Harbour offers a wide range of surgical services and post-operative care to around 6,500 patients each year. Our surgical specialities include General surgery, Gynaecology, Oral & Maxillofacial surgery, Urology, Orthopaedics, Plastic and Reconstructive surgery, Urology, Otolaryngology and Robotics. 

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We are looking for a full time Quality Manager to join the Senior Leadership Team and help lead our hospital towards a service of excellence and continuous improvement. You will actively support the General Manager to achieve the strategic goals of North Harbour Hospital. 

The role will promote and influence an environment of continuous quality improvement. As well as lead and manage all safety, quality, and risk management (SQRM) initiatives for the hospital to meet legislative compliance, business needs and to ensure the delivery of a high-quality service.

  • Tertiary qualification in nursing, quality/management or a related discipline 
  • Ability to work autonomously and be self-driven 
  • Have a passion for excellence in care and outcomes for patients 
  • Knowledge of risk and quality management and performance improvement methodology 
  • Be strong team member ensuring collaborative working environment for our team 
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills 
  • Understanding legal, health and safety standards for the business and ensuring that such standards are met 
  •  Knowledge of computer systems to an intermediate level 
  • Proven experience and ability in operational management and leadership within a surgical hospital environment 
  • Be able to demonstrate collaborative leadership in a challenging environment with a diverse team. 
  • A "can do" attitude.   

This position will suit an experienced team player who will inspire our team in their drive for excellence in the provision of quality surgical care here at North Harbour. Ideally you will have good interpersonal skills, to maintain and create strong clinical relationships with our visiting Specialists and fellow healthcare professionals.
