SEASONAL REFRIGERATED CONTAINER PLUGGING ROLES

We’re looking for several people to join our team over our busy season, with staggered start dates across November, December and January.
What will I be doing?
Our refrigerated container plugging team, known as Reefer Care Pluggers, look after refrigerated containers moving through our terminal.
You’ll be working outside in the container terminal, plugging and unplugging refrigerated containers and helping look after some of the best produce Hawke’s Bay sends around the world.
It’s an active role with plenty of walking, stairs and time on your feet, so if you like a job that keeps you moving, this could be for you.
What do I need?
You don’t need previous port experience. What’s important to us is that you bring:
- A great attitude and willingness to learn.
- A full, clean Class 1 driver licence that you’ve held for at least six months.
- Flexibility to work days, afternoons, midnights and weekends.
- Good physical fitness, including being comfortable lifting ladders and climbing reefer towers.
- The ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
- Confidence using and learning systems and digital devices.
- Reliability and good attention to detail.
What do I need to know?
Napier Port is a 24/7 operation, so shift work, weekends and public holidays are part of the job. Our roster includes day, afternoon and midnight shifts.
We know night shifts can take some getting used to, so there is dedicated time off to prepare and recover, along with support from experienced team members who can share what works for them when it comes to managing tiredness.
These are fixed term seasonal positions to help us through our busy period and are not permanent roles. We’re looking for people to work with us through until June, when our season winds down.
