Rheumatic Fever Kaiawhina [Fixed Term]
We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic and passionate kaimahi wanting to join us in our vision to strengthen and improve the wellbeing of tamariki and whānau within our local community.
We have received additional funding to work closely with whanau experiencing socio-economic challenges like damp, cold homes and overcrowding. This role will engage with external services to provide wrap-around prevention activities such as access to immunisations, Healthy Homes referrals and Dental referrals.
The Role:
- Promote and support the Rhematic Fever Programme and ensure whānau and community are informed about the service and its importance to the health and wellbeing of Tamariki.
- Work closely with the Say Ahh team and support whānau to receive testing and antibiotic treatment and testing
- Provide education in homes and schools to increase health literacy
- Engage with external Social Support services to provide additional wrap-around preventions.
What we are looking for:
- Enjoy working with whānau and seeing results.
- Can motivate, educate, and empower whānau.
- Know how to use Microsoft office programmes and Health systems and databases. Previous experience with Indici is advantageous. (Training will be given)
- Have proven experience working effectively within the community.
- Are able to work well as part of an integrated team
Essential skills and qualifications include:
- A Certificate in Health Promotion and/or Education is preferred (Job Training will be provided)
- Experience working with tamariki
- A Full and current Driver’s license
- An appreciation and experience working with diverse cultures.
- A First Aid Certificate is an advantage.
This is a full time, fixed term role till 30th September 2026
Your normal hours of work are Mon – Fri 8.30am to 5.00pm (40 hours)
