We are looking for a genuine superstar to join our fantastic Retail Warehouse Operations team at OpShopSocial - someone with strong customer service and teamwork skills, and a genuine interest in our charity’s mission and values.

We are not your normal charity store, so we are looking for someone quite special. You’ll be physically fit, have excellent organisational skills, a can-do positive attitude, and have a passion for creating a more circular retail culture.

The role

In this role, you will work within our Warehouse and Retail shop floor to:

  • Respectfully receive, sort, research, prepare and price donations and products for sale
  • Collaborate and work with our front-of-shop and volunteers to deliver the best shopping experience possible for our customers and donors
  • Ensure stock management and distribution systems operate efficiently, safely and smoothly
  • Guide and give direction to volunteers to achieve daily warehouse and shop objectives
  • Proactively take measures to step up as a community lead for sustainability
  • Help cultivate a positive culture of teamwork, with a willingness to work hard and take the initiative

Hours: Permanent, Part-time; 20 hours per week to be worked 4 hours per day, Monday-Friday between 9.00 am-5.00 pm (set hours negotiable). You are required to work in the warehouse, and the shop as necessary, as well as occasional Saturdays or Sundays, to cover annual leave/illness.

Starting date: The role will commence in early May, depending on the right candidate.

Interview process:  Should you make it to the interview stage, part of the interview process will include sorting a bag of donations, as well as identifying, researching and pricing items of value.

About you

The ideal applicant will:

  • Be physically fit. The warehouse involves standing for long periods, lifting, bending and carrying etc, so good physical condition is necessary.
  • Have an interest in op-shopping and an appreciation for vintage, retro and collectibles.
  • Be familiar with fast-fashion brands, quality fashion labels, and New Zealand fashion designers.
  • Demonstrate interest and enthusiasm for sustainability in the retail sector, specifically reusing, upcycling and striving towards a more circular economy.
  • Be reliable, trustworthy and work with integrity.
  • Have great communication skills and work collaboratively with a diverse team of volunteers and staff.
  • Have had experience working in the retail sector and/or storage and warehouse environments.
  • Be highly organised, self-motivated and demonstrate initiative, with the enthusiasm to make things happen quickly.

What we offer

  • Working with a team of passionate people
  • A fun, creative and inclusive work environment
  • Being part of a well-known and local charitable organisation
