We are looking to appoint community minded, self-managing and resilient people with the special responsibility of Residential Assistant in Te Pā Tauira, Otago Polytechnic’s Student Village. As a RA you will be a leader within our student community by:
· providing pastoral support to first year tertiary student
· organizing and running events for the community
· monitor and informing senior staff about community developments
· undertaking general administration and reporting tasks

Key to your success in this role will be your:
· Ability to relate to and empathise with the challenges first year tertiary learners face
· Ability to self-manage and organise your own workload
· Resilience and self-care strategies which sustain your resilience.
· Genuine desire to support a community of people
· People focus and enjoyment in engaging and communicating with a diverse range of people
· Understanding of professional boundaries in a support based role.
As part of this role, you must be enrolled in full time study at Otago Polytechnic or Otago University for 2026 and be willing to live on-site.
You will be able to demonstrate the following:
· Be an effective Te Tiriti o Waitangi partner by supporting the values and tikaka of mana whenua throughout your mahi
· Good computer literacy and ability to use full suite of Microsoft products (particularly Word, Excel and SharePoint/Teams).
· Pass a police check
· Ability to work in NZ
You will have demonstrable health and safety best practices and enjoy being part of a team who support each other. You will easily be able to build and maintain relationships.
