At BestStart, we are recruiting Reliever Teachers to join our Reliever Team. Our Reliever Team plays an integral role in the operation of our centres nationwide. As a Teacher for us, you will have the opportunity to work with our Tamariki and make a difference to their learning and development.
As a Reliever Teacher, you will be working alongside the permanent staff and be involved in the day-to-day activities of the class. Looking for guidance of where you may be needed but also using your initiative to see opportunities to be helpful and a part of the team. No day will be the same, as our BestStart Relievers can work across any of our centres, offering a variety of work daily.
What does the Hutt Valley offer?
One of the Wellington region's largest suburban settlements, the Hutt Valley features two main areas - Upper Hutt and Lower Hutt. It is a real destination spot for keen outdoor adventurists with beautiful bike trails and beaches. The area offers a vintage flair through its retail and hospo scene, and also features some great craft beer breweries!
BestStart has seven centres located in the Hutt Valley - all within easy reach of one another.

To be considered to work as a Teacher, you must have the below:
- NZ qualification in ECE or Primary (BEd/Grad Dip) Level 7 minimum
- NZ Registration – current (Provisional or Full) with NZ Teaching Council
- NZQA endorsement completed for overseas quals – must be endorsed at Level 7 or higher, and be endorsed to work at NZ ECE level.
- Applicants MUST have eligibility to work in New Zealand.
