We are looking for a Registered Social Worker for who is passionate about child protection and believes in early intervention to support tamariki and whānau to flourish.

Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga (TToH) is a whānau-focused, Iwi mandated, kaupapa Māori health and social services organisation. About the Service

The Pou Tuaronga service is a partnership between Ngāti Kahungunu and Oranga Tamariki to reduce the number of tamariki coming to the attention or in the care of Oranga Tamariki.  It is a collaborative, strengths-based approach that places tamariki and whānau at the centre.  This role is part of an early and intensive intervention service designed to reduce the need for statutory involvement and build sustainable whānau wellbeing.  This will suit a sharp, thoughtful professional with a strong ability to quickly process complex information. Brings clarity and focus to short, intensive interventions, delivering meaningful outcomes in time‑limited situation.

 The Job 

  • Build trusted, respectful relationships with whānau and partner agencies.
  • Undertake comprehensive needs assessments with whānau.
  • Short and intensive intervention
  • Processes information with speed and accuracy
  • Collaboratively assess reports of concern ensuring tamariki and whānau are at the centre of all decision-making 
  • Support the creation of whānau-led plans that promote safety, healing, and resilience.
  • Ensure culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and mana-enhancing practice in all work.
  • Actively participate in multi-agency collaboration to deliver wraparound support.

 About You

  • A current. registered Social Worker Qualification (Level 6 or higher) with a valid practicing certificate.
  • New Zealand Diploma in Child protection or equivalent (Or able to complete within 6 months of starting the position).
  • Strong experience working in child protection, whānau support, or similar social work settings.
  • Excellent communication and relational skills.
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Skilled in concise, results-driven work
  • A solid understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Te Ao Māori, and culturally grounded practice.
  • Passion and commitment to helping whānau achieve positive, long-lasting outcomes.
