Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

Southern Cross New Plymouth Hospital is seeking two skilled and compassionate Registered Nurses to join our Peri-Anaesthesia team. As a peri-anaesthesia nurse, you will play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality care across the surgical pathway, supporting patients, whānau, and clinical teams before, during, and after surgery.

You will work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, contributing across Peri-anaesthesia services in line with your experience and service needs. Day to day, this will include supporting patients through pre‑operative assessment and preparation, delivering safe and effective post‑anaesthetic care, monitoring and responding to patient condition changes, coordinating discharges, and ensuring accurate clinical documentation. Your practice will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient‑centred care and clinical excellence in a surgical setting.

Reporting to the Peri-Anaesthesia Services Manager, these roles offer a fantastic opportunity for nurses who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about perioperative nursing. In addition to delivering culturally responsive and safe care, you will contribute to accurate documentation, support quality improvement initiatives, and assist with staff orientation and team development. You’ll be joining a supportive, collaborative, and professional team that values continuous improvement and shared learning.

We have two roles available at Southern Cross New Plymouth Hospital, FTE to be negotiated.
