The Christchurch hospital campus has seen significant upgrades and new facilities in recent years, and typically provides services to around 9,500 patients each year. That includes multiple surgical specialties excluding cardiac, vascular and neurosurgery. Facilities include digital operating theatres, systems for robotically-assisted surgery, advanced digital scanning technologies, consulting facilities and a purpose built endoscopy centre.  

te Tūranga | About the Role 

We are seeking experienced surgical Registered Nurses’ who ideally have worked within complex surgical settings. Adaptability and flexibility will be required to work within our different surgical areas, that includes a progressive high dependency ward. You will be working within a dynamic, and supportive, fast paced environment. The team has a focus on collaborative teamwork, that embraces manaakitanga and whanaungatanga.  

We have both full time and part time roles available and have flexibility and availability for a range of shifts covering AM, PM and Night shifts. 

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience 

  • Current Annual Practicing Certificate with Nursing Council of New Zealand  
  • Minimum 3-5 years surgical high dependency experience 
  • Clinical Emergency management skills- preferably current CPR Core Intermediate 
  • Paediatric experience is highly desirable  
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain strong collegial relationships  
  • Thrives in a fast paced environment
  • Kindness and a positive attitude
