Regional Manager – Central Region

  • Lead, manage and deliver strategic outcomes that strengthen our clubs and communities
  • Work within a supportive, focused and driven Regional Team
  • Exciting opportunity to contribute to one of New Zealand’s most respected for-purpose community organisations

Across Aotearoa, our surf lifeguards have saved thousands of lives and ensured millions have come home safe after a day at the beach since 1910. Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ) is truly unique – a national movement delivering proactive surf lifeguarding, essential emergency rescue services, public education programmes, training and development, and a vibrant sporting pathway. As a for-purpose organisation, we’re proud to be powered by volunteers and supported by a small, professional team driven by our vision that no one drowns at the beach in Aotearoa New Zealand.

We’re now seeking a capable and collaborative Regional Manager – Central Region to lead the delivery of strategic and operational outcomes between SLSNZ, our Central Region, and its affiliated clubs. This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for ensuring alignment with the SLSNZ brand and national strategy while supporting regional staff in delivering key programmes and services to our members. You’ll prepare and deliver Regional Management Plans and Budgets, drive continuous improvement, and ensure programmes meet SLSNZ’s key performance indicators and compliance standards.

A key part of this role is building and maintaining strong relationships with regional stakeholders, funders, councils, and community partners to ensure the sustainability and operational capability of surf lifesaving across the Central Region. You’ll also contribute to national projects and initiatives as identified by the SLSNZ Chief Executive or their representative.

What you’ll bring

  • Proven leadership experience in the community, volunteer, or sport sector management
  • Strong relationship and stakeholder management skills
  • Financial and operational management capability, including budgeting and reporting
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • A passion for surf lifesaving, community development, and volunteer empowerment

This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact in one of New Zealand’s most trusted and community-driven organisations — leading people, partnerships, and programmes that truly save lives.
