Southern Cross Invercargill Hospital is the southernmost private surgical hospital in the Southern Cross network, it is widely known and used by people throughout the Southland and Queenstown-Wakatipu basin areas.

The hospital features advanced theatre systems, including robotic orthopaedic surgery. Our highly skilled and caring team provide excellent care to 4200 patients per year. Our elective surgical services include Breast; Endoscopy and Gastroenterology; General; Gynaecology; Ophthalmology; Oral and Maxillofacial; Orthopaedic; Ear Nose and Throat; and Urology surgery.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We are looking for a friendly, organised and customer-focused Receptionist to join our team in a permanent part-time role working 27.5 hours per week. As the first point of contact for patients, visitors, specialists and staff, you will play a key role in creating a welcoming and professional experience while ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of our front-of-house and administration services.

This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You'll provide exceptional customer service both in person and over the phone, support patient bookings and referrals, maintain accurate records and documentation, process accounts and invoices, and provide general administration support across the hospital. Working closely with clinical and non-clinical teams, you'll help ensure a seamless experience for our patients while supporting the efficient operation of the hospital.

The successful candidate will thrive in a busy environment, enjoy building positive relationships with a wide range of people, and take pride in delivering high-quality administrative support. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team and make a meaningful contribution to the patient journey from the moment they walk through our doors.

This is a part-time permanent position based in our Southern Cross Invercargill Hospital.

  • Previous experience in a reception, administration or customer service role
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • A professional and compassionate approach to customer service
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a busy environment
  • Accurate keyboard, data entry and general administration skills
  • Confidence working with computer systems and administrative processes
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to support the wider team
  • Previous experience in a healthcare environment is desirable
