  • Represent SLSNR in public and interagency interactions
  • Monitor unpatrolled areas and respond to emerging risks
  • Apply sound judgment to manage risk and assist in undertaking rescues
  • Maintain rescue gear, IRBs, RWCs, facilities & vehicles
  • Champion professionalism and operational excellence

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

  • SLSNZ Surf Lifeguard Award (or Bronze Medallion equivalent)
  • NZ Driver’s License
  • Surf First Aid (US 6400, 6401, 6402 or equivalent)
  • RWC Operator Award (refreshed)
  • Experience managing risk and mentoring teams in busy beach environments

Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong leadership and communication style
  • Confident under pressure and solutions-focused
  • Great with rosters, admin, and equipment checks
  • Positive, proactive and values teamwork
  • Experience engaging with stakeholders like clubs & emergency services

Desirable:

  • IRB Driver Award
  • Advanced First Aid & Pain Relief Module
  • Two seasons’ paid lifeguard experience
  • Familiarity with urban beach operations and SAR coordination

 What We Offer

  • Competitive seasonal salary
  • Support with upskilling & awards
  • A leadership role with community impact
  • A close-knit, purpose-led team
  • The chance to lead and shape safety across Auckland’s most iconic urban beaches
