Quality and Phytosanitary Lead - Day Shift

Are you an organized, proactive quality professional with strong leadership skills and experience in an apple export packhouse. Rockit Packing Company is looking for a Quality & Phytosanitary Shift Lead to oversee and support our day shift quality team, while helping to drive a string quality culture across the packhouse.
About the Role
Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for leading and supervising the day shift packhouse quality team to ensure quality control activities, documentation, inspections, training and compliance requirements are completed accurately, on time, and to the required standard. You will work closely with the Production Manager, Quality verification team and Shift Supervisors to support effective packhouse operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the day shift packhouse quality team
- Ensure documentation and reports related to QC functions are completed in full, on time, accurately and maintained.
- Assist with maintaining quality inspections software systems and packhouse quality procedures, including HACCP systems.
- Ensure training for shift QCs and graders is completed to an acceptable standard.
- Complete fruit inspections, online inspections, shelf-life testing and investigative inspections as required.
- Assist with setting up QC standards, including packhouse line-ups.
- Work with post-harvest systems to ensure compliance with operating procedures, the MPI approved organizational plan and other compliance requirements
- Support projects that promote quality, compliance and food safety best practice.
What Rocks You
- Experience in quality control and HACCP systems for apple export packhouse and Coolstore operations.
- Completed Phytosanitary training.
- Strong people and relationship management skills, with experience leading a team and training staff.
- Advanced computer skills including ABC, Excel, and Microsoft Office
- Able to adapt quickly to changing situations and priorities.
- Flexible in terms of working hours and shift requirements.
- A positive outlook towards learning new skills and supporting continuous improvement.
- Empathy towards different cultures and beliefs in a working environment.
- A proactive commitment to food safety, quality, compliance and health and safety requirements.
