About the Role

McKay are looking for an experienced Quality Advisor (Electrical Works) to play a key role in supporting and strengthening McKay’s Quality Management System across our projects nationwide. In this hands-on position, you’ll be active on sites, working closely with project teams to ensure compliance, support documentation, carry out inspections and audits, and act as a trusted quality advisor throughout the full project life cycle.

McKay is flexible on the successful candidate’s location, and the role will include regular nationwide travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all electrical works comply with relevant NZ legislation, standards, and codes.
  • Monitor electrical project life cycles across regions to ensure alignment with quality standards.
  • Monitor, escalate, and report on quality performance issues and trends.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed compliance documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve McKay’s quality systems and processes.
  • Provide practical, on-site quality advice to project managers, supervisors, and delivery teams.
  • Assist with the preparation, review, and maintenance of project quality plans, ITPs, and procedures.

About You

  • Registered Electrician or Electrical Engineer with relevant NZ qualifications.
  • Strong knowledge of NZ electrical legislation, compliance frameworks, and AS/NZS standards.
  • Lead Auditor (ISO 9001) or internal auditing certification (preferred).
  • Additional certifications in quality, continuous improvement, or project management (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean, Prince2) are advantageous.
  • Experience implementing and managing quality systems, quality plans, and audit programmes.
  • Practical experience in inspection, testing, commissioning, and certification of electrical installations.
