About the Role:
At BestStart Papatoetoe, we pride ourselves on providing a home-away-from-home environment where children feel safe, nurtured, and excited to learn. This fixed-term position is 30 hours per week, working Monday to Friday, and based in our Preschool Room. As a core member of the teaching team, you will:
- Support and extend tamariki learning through high-quality planning, documentation, and assessment (e.g., ILPs, ISMART, Internal Evaluation)
- Engage in all aspects of care routines, including supervision and nappy changing
- Build strong, respectful relationships with tamariki, whānau, and your team
- Deliver inclusive and culturally responsive teaching aligned with Te Whāriki
- Reflect on practice and support continuous improvement within the centre
- Maintain compliance, uphold health and safety standards, and identify any risks
What We’re Looking For:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A Level 7 ECE qualification and current NZ Teacher Registration
- Strong understanding of Te Whāriki, ECE regulations, and child-led curriculum
- Passion for inclusive practice and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Experience in learning documentation, internal evaluations, and planning
- Great communication skills and a collaborative, reflective mindset
- A genuine love for teaching and making a difference in the lives of tamariki
