BestStart Montessori Arrowtown is looking for a passionate, qualified, and certificated Kaiako to join our warm, energetic, and close‑knit team. If you’re committed to nurturing young learners and inspired by Montessori philosophy, this is a place where your teaching can truly flourish.

Our Montessori Approach

“Learning how to learn is a preparation for life.” Maria Montessori understood that children are naturally driven to explore, and that genuine learning grows from self‑motivation.

At BestStart Montessori Arrowtown, we honour this by observing each child closely, understanding their unique stage of development, and supporting their individual interests. Our environment encourages independence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.

About the Role

This is a permanent, full‑time position working 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 8.30am–5pm in our Bambini Room, working with tamariki aged 0–3.

Our environment is calm, nurturing, and home‑like. We value strong whānau partnerships and follow children’s home routines to ensure consistency and belonging. Through our primary caregiving approach, we build secure relationships and introduce foundational Montessori concepts that support independence and connection.

Our programme includes:

  • Weekly “mini adventurers” outings for our two‑year‑olds, including visits to the local library
  • Weekly yoga sessions for our youngest tamariki

What We’re Looking For

We’d love to hear from you if you’re newly qualified or an experienced educator who is passionate about early learning. You’ll bring:

  • A Level 7 ECE or Primary teaching qualification and current certification
  • Strong understanding of child‑led curriculum and planning
  • Solid knowledge of ECE regulations, Te Whāriki, and compliance
  • Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi in everyday practice
