BestStart Barrington is seeking a passionate and dedicated Qualified and Registered Teacher to join our energetic and close-knit team in our Pūtangitangi Room (4-5 year olds).

About the Role

This is a fixed-term position (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday) covering parental leave from August 2026 to August 2027.

Working in our Pūtangitangi Room (4-5 year olds), you will play a key role in supporting tamariki as they develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed for their transition to school.

Our Kaiako support tamariki to develop strategies for reasoning and problem-solving, build resilience, and foster positive self-esteem. Through meaningful interactions and intentional teaching practices, you will help create an engaging and empowering learning environment where every child can thrive.

As part of our Set for School Programme, you will contribute to creating positive routines that support children's social and emotional development while extending their literacy and mathematical thinking. You'll encourage curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning, helping children become confident and capable learners.

About You

We are looking for a passionate teacher who shares our values and vision and is committed to providing high-quality learning experiences for tamariki.

You will bring:

  • BEd/Diploma in Teaching (Level 7 ECE) and current New Zealand Teacher Certification
  • Strong knowledge of Te Whāriki, assessment, planning, and curriculum implementation
  • Sound understanding of ECE Regulations and licensing criteria
  • A genuine passion for supporting children's learning, wellbeing, and development
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with whānau and colleagues
  • Enthusiasm for contributing positively to a diverse and inclusive learning environment
