The Ryder Cheshire Foundation (Waikato) provide affordable and accessible homes, purpose built for the needs of people living with the effects of physical disabilities.  These homes enable the people who reside there to live in the community in an environment that gives them security and freedom.

The role of Caretaker is primarily responsible for being the first point of contact for residents and tenants for issues relating to property, housing, flatmate relationships and emergencies. The role is responsible for day to day maintenance and repairs including: painting; minor building; garden and lawn maintenance; cleaning when residents leave; fixing all manner of small repairs; and when required sourcing quotes for more major works, and then engaging and overseeing contractors.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will liaise regularly and report as and when required; as well as be on call to residents with any urgent issues. 

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Great repair and maintenance skills and willing to roll your sleeves up to fix almost anything;
  • Ability to build an easy rapport with others;
  • Be  reliable, available and happy to do what’s required;
  • Be diplomatic, professional and able to maintain strict confidentiality

This role is offered at 20 hours per week and there is some flexibility as to how the hours are worked.
