About us

The Heart Foundation is New Zealand’s heart charity, leading the fight against heart disease. For more than 50 years, our work has helped save lives and improve the heart health of people throughout Aotearoa.

We fund vital heart research, support people living with heart conditions and their whānau, and work across our communities to help prevent heart disease.

About you

This role would suit someone who has already gained solid experience in a junior Project Manager role and is ready to take the next step into an intermediate level position.

You’ll have at least two years’ hands on project management experience and a strong understanding of project management fundamentals. You’ll be ready to take greater ownership of projects and confidently lead them from planning through to delivery, with support from an experienced Senior Project Manager.

You’ll be comfortable developing project plans, managing risks and issues, monitoring timelines, maintaining governance and reporting, and coordinating several projects at once. You’ll also be a confident communicator who can facilitate meetings and workshops, build strong stakeholder relationships and keep people focused on delivery.

While this is not an entry level position, it is a great stepping stone for someone currently working at a junior Project Manager level who is ready to grow into an intermediate role. It is best suited to someone at this stage of their career, rather than an established senior level Project Manager.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our Shared Services team. Based at Te Whare Manawanui, our Auckland office in Ellerslie, this role reports to Senior Project Manager.

As Project Manager, you will lead the planning and delivery of multiple projects across the organisation. You will work closely with a wide range of teams and stakeholders, providing the structure, coordination and oversight needed to keep projects moving and ensure they are delivered successfully.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and maintaining project plans, schedules, timelines and delivery roadmaps
• Coordinating project activities across multiple teams
• Facilitating workshops, project meetings and planning sessions
• Managing project risks, issues, dependencies and actions
• Monitoring progress and proactively addressing delivery challenges
• Preparing project documentation, governance reports and status updates
• Coordinating external suppliers, consultants and delivery partners
• Identifying opportunities to improve project processes and ways of working
• Using AI and digital tools to improve project planning, reporting and productivity

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to develop your project management career while contributing to meaningful work across the Heart Foundation. You will join a collaborative and supportive team and work on a varied range of projects that make a difference to the organisation and the communities we serve.

What you’ll get in return

We know flexibility matters. You’ll enjoy hybrid working arrangements that support a genuine balance between working from home and connecting with the team in the office.

You’ll also receive:

• A meaningful role where your work contributes to better heart health for New Zealanders
• A supportive, inclusive and collaborative team environment
• A competitive salary
• An additional paid day off each year for Heart Foundation Day
• Paid sick leave from your first day
• Access to a wellbeing platform and discounted health insurance
• Ongoing learning and development, including heart health, hauora and cultural awareness training
