About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and capable Commercial / Industrial Construction Project Manager who can come in and hit the ground running. This person will be a key team member on our design and build projects in Otago and Southland and will see them through from the initial design stage through to completion. The role could be based in either Otago or Southland. 

You will work alongside the Construction Manager, Operations Managers and the onsite construction teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects in the Otago and Southland region. 

Calder Stewart Construction Project Managers have the unique opportunity to work with our integrated property, design, and manufacturing teams to efficiently deliver high quality commercial and industrial design build projects. Our market leading design-build process has resulted in a full pipeline of future work around New Zealand.

Skills You Will Need

Being an integral member of our construction team, you will be an excellent communicator and have natural leadership ability and a thorough understanding of NZ commercial construction methods. You will be proficient in the use of MS Project and have strong programming abilities You will be a Team player who is calm under pressure, is solutions focused and doesn’t allocate blame.

Additionally, we will be looking for the following attributes from candidates: 

· A trade or tertiary qualification in construction management or quantity surveying would be advantageous

· At least 5+ years’ experience in managing a mix of medium to large, design and build commercial construction projects

· The role will be largely office based but will require out of town travel at times to meet project requirements

·  Site based physical construction experience e.g. someone that has been on the tools and worked their way up the ranks, would be highly advantageous

· Ability to interpret detailed construction plans and specifications.

· Sound knowledge of NZS3910, 3915 & 3916 construction contracts

· A high degree of competence in Microsoft Office including MS Project 

· Experience in the utilisation of Procore project management systems

· A high degree of experience in project administration including document control, RFI’s, CI’s etc

· Experience in project quality management and development of ITP’s, Project Handover plans etc

· A high level of experience in the use of Microsoft Project developing, monitoring and updating detailed critical path construction programmes

· Outstanding written and oral communication
