Otago Polytechnic’s School of Design invites applications for a Lecturer, an academic role for a visionary educator, researcher, and practitioner committed to design excellence, ecological responsibility, and culturally inclusive practice.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and teach product/industrial design at undergraduate levels.
  • Teach Product Design areas including Human Centred Design, Design for sustainability, 3DCAD, Model making, integrating contemporary and global perspectives.
  • Impart your knowledge and experience with our ākonga in an educational context.
  • Collaborate across disciplines including art, design, engineering, and digital technologies.
  • Engage with communities of practice, industry, and cultural partners.

You will bring:

  • A strong academic, professional, or design-research profile in design.
  • A commitment to culturally responsive and inclusive education.
  • Leadership experience in teaching, research, or professional practice.
  • A clear research trajectory aligned with contemporary architectural challenges such as climate change, digital transformation, and social equity.
  • A relevant Bachelors of Design qualification in Product / Industrial Design
