Mō te tūraka mahi | About the role 

The Procurement and Contracts Business Partner will provide expert leadership in procurement planning, sourcing, and contract management across Otago Polytechnic. The role is responsible for supporting best-practice procurement across the full procurement lifecycle, partnering with contract owners and stakeholders to deliver value-for-money outcomes and strong supplier relationships.

You will also play a key role in strengthening contract management practices across Otago Polytechnic, supporting contract owners with contract setup, performance monitoring, renewals, variations, and risk management.

This role is integral to strengthening organisational capability, supporting informed decision-making, and ensuring procurement and contract management practices align with Otago Polytechnic’s long-term objectives.

Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director: Operations, you will act as the organisation’s centre of expertise for procurement and contracts, providing strategic and operational advice, supporting high-value and high-risk activities, and developing fit-for-purpose frameworks, tools, and guidance. You will work closely with Heads of College, Directors, and other stakeholders to support sourcing and contract management activities, strengthen supplier performance, manage risk and compliance, and provide reporting and insights on contractual matters.

The successful candidate will have appropriate qualifications with proven experience and a track record of successful procurement planning and management. Your analysis, modelling, sustainable purchasing, benchmarking and financial skills will be critical in achieving success in this role. Your knowledge of relevant legislation and New Zealand Government Procurement Rules and All of Government strategy will be paramount.

This role requires leadership skills and strategic, proactive and current procurement practices, the ability to build and maintain the confidence of key stakeholders whilst delivering results in a complex environment.
