Procurement and Contract Lead

We are seeking a permanent full-time Procurement and Contract Lead based in Hawke's Bay. This role leads EIT's procurement and contract management practices, ensuring goods and services are sourced effectively, and contracts are managed in a consistent, practical and transparent way.
The appointing salary for this role will be between $87,217 and $109,021, dependent on skills and experience.
The Procurement and Contract Lead is based in Hawke's Bay and reports to the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for:
- Lead and oversee procurement activities across EIT ensuring sourcing approaches, evaluation processes and recommendations are robust, transparent and fit for purpose.
- Ensure procurement activities align with organisational policies, procedures and delegated authorities.
- Act as EIT's subject matter expert for procurement and contract management, influencing decision-making and promoting consistent organisational practice.
- Lead the management of EIT's contract management framework, including the contract library and procurement pipeline.
- Review contracts and provide guidance on contract obligations, renewals, variations, extensions and supplier performance expectations.
- Identify contract and supplier risks and implement mitigation strategies to support effective risk management.
- Develop and implement procurement frameworks, tools, templates and guidance to improve organisational capability and consistency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by reviewing current procurement and contract management practices.
- Develop and present procurement, contract and spend analysis to support strategic planning and executive decision-making.
- Build positive stakeholder relationships and contribute to projects and initiatives that improve procurement and contract management outcomes across EIT.

To be successful in this role you will have:
- Significant experience leading end-to-end procurement and sourcing activities, including tenders, supplier negotiations and contract establishment.
- Demonstrated experience providing expert procurement advice and influencing managers and senior leaders.
- Strong knowledge of procurement governance, contract management, risk management and supplier relationship management.
- Experience developing and implementing procurement frameworks, policies, processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
- A relevant degree in business, commerce, finance or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing and relationship management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present advice to a range of audiences.
- Sound judgement, initiative and proven problem-solving capability.
- A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on organisational effectiveness and value creation.
- The ability to build collaborative working relationships and work effectively across diverse stakeholder groups.
