McKay Limited
Industrial Facilities and Infrastructure

Build something that lasts. Lead something that matters.

This is not a typical Procurement Manager role. This 9-month fixed-term opportunity is a rare mandate to design, establish, and embed a full enterprise procurement function at McKay, creating a sustainable capability that will shape how the business operates long into the future.

Reporting into the Executive General Manager - Finance & Commercial the Procurement Manager will have a Procurement Lead reporting to them, responsible primarily for project‑related procurement execution, while the Procurement Manager focuses on strategy, governance, operating model design, capability uplift, and executive engagement.

As the functional authority for procurement, you will work closely with executive, commercial, and operational leaders to position procurement as a strategic enabler of performance, not just a transactional service.

You can choose to be based in either our Auckland or Whangārei office, depending on your preference.

What you’ll do

  • Design and stand-up McKay’s procurement operating model across projects, operations, and corporate spend
  • Establish governance frameworks, policies, tools, and systems that are scalable and fit for purpose
  • Lead strategic, high-value, and high-risk procurement activity, including supplier negotiations and contract oversight
  • Build supplier strategies and performance frameworks to drive value, safety, and consistency
  • Create structured approaches to overhead and indirect spend (IT, fleet, property, professional services, etc.)
  • Coach and uplift capability across procurement and broader business teams
  • Deliver a clear, well-documented handover ensuring long-term sustainability of the function

What you bring

  • Extensive senior experience in procurement, commercial, or supply chain leadership within construction, engineering, or infrastructure
  • Proven success in establishing or transforming procurement functions
  • Strong expertise in procurement governance, sourcing strategy, supplier management, and contract negotiation
  • Ability to influence at executive level and drive alignment across diverse stakeholders
  • A pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset with sharp commercial acumen

Why this role?

This is a build-and-leave legacy role, ideal for a strategic procurement leader who thrives on creating structure, driving uplift, and delivering tangible organisational impact within a defined timeframe.

Join a business ready for change, where your expertise will shape the future of procurement across the McKay Group.
