Procurement Assistant
Bidfood is New Zealand’s leading foodservice distributor, proudly supplying quality food and related products to customers nationwide. We’re looking for a Procurement Assistant to join our Procurement team at our Waipapa branch.
This role is critical to ensuring we have the right products, in the right quantities, at the right price, supporting excellent customer service, strong stock control and branch profitability.
About the role
Reporting to the Procurement Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Accurately receipting goods and maintaining stock records
- Supporting procurement decisions to optimise stock levels and stock turn
- Monitoring inwards goods to ensure accuracy and system integrity
- Maintaining item, pricing and inventory files
- Identifying and assisting to manage slow-moving or problem stock
- Ensuring supplier credits are requested promptly and followed through
- Liaising with suppliers to ensure food safety standards are met
- Assisting with stocktakes and inventory processes
- Working closely with procurement, warehouse and inventory teams
About you
You will bring:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Confidence using computer systems and working with data
- Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- The ability to prioritise and manage deadlines
- A commitment to food safety, health & safety and company procedures
Experience in procurement, inventory control, receipting or foodservice is advantageous, but we’re also open to motivated candidates with strong administrative or systems experience.
