He angitūtanga – The Opportunity
We’re on the hunt for a procurement professional to join our Business Performance team at Horowhenua District Council.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in procurement across our organisation, bringing fresh thinking, practical advice, and an innovation mindset to make procurement not just a process people follow, but a function that genuinely adds value.
You'll have the freedom to shape how procurement is delivered across Council, balancing innovation with practicality. One day you'll be providing strategic advice, improving systems and lifting organisational capability; the next you'll be supporting teams through day-to-day procurement activity. You'll understand that both are equally important.
How you’ll help shape the future:
He kōrero mōu – About You
You’re genuinely passionate about procurement and enjoy getting into the detail.
You look beyond the rules to understand the "why" and take satisfaction in helping others navigate procurement with confidence. You read situations well, knowing when to provide guidance, when to facilitate discussion, and when to step in and lead.
People trust you. Not just because you know your stuff (you do), but because you're approachable, practical, and able to bring people with you.
You’re someone who:
Most importantly, you care about doing procurement well. Not simply because it's required, but because good procurement creates better outcomes for our organisation and our community.
