Pou Tokomanawa | Māori Clinical Lead

Odyssey is committed to fulfilling the promise of Te Tiriti o Waitangi by partnering with iwi (who are present on Odyssey’s Board) and implementing a strategic plan which aims to support all our tāngata whai ora to achieve pae ora.

Currently, we are looking to recruit a permanent, part time (20 hours per week) Pou Tokomanawa (Māori Clinical Lead), to join our Service Improvement team at Ngā Wai (our Leadership and Service Support Hub) in New Windsor, West Auckland.

Then this role is for you!

The Pou Tokomanawa will work closely with our Pou Tāhū and alongside other Māori Leaders in Odyssey, drawing on mātauranga Māori concepts and health models to support our workforce in the provision of culturally safe and responsive services for Maori who make up a significant proportion of our tāngata whai ora.

To be effective in this role, you will:

  • Feel comfortable in your Māoritanga.
  • Have a relevant qualification and at least 3 years’ experience working clinically within a health environment, preferably within the addictions or mental health sectors.
  • Have a desire to develop your leadership skills to enhance services for Māori.
  • The ability to support the development of Māori approaches in clinical service delivery.
  • The ability to support, mentor and train both Māori and non-Māori colleagues.
  • Be able to create and support an environment where tāngata whai ora and kaimahi can achieve their full potential.
  • Be willing and able to travel to services within Auckland, Whangārei and Hamilton as required.

In return, we offer:

  • A salary between $87,942 and $97,219 pro rata depending on skills and experience.
  • A great benefits package, including 5 days study leave per annum, onsite parking and an annual petrol allowance.
  • Negotiable days of work.
  • Professional development and career opportunities.
  • Dynamic, supportive colleagues who are passionate about what they do.

We wholeheartedly believe that everyone living in New Zealand should have the opportunity to live life to the fullest, to feel hopeful about their future and to have meaningful relationships with friends and whānau.

Our pou (or pillars) – Whakawhirinaki, Pono, Haepapa, Matapōpore and Aroha – are the foundation of our work and relationships.

To apply, please send us your CV and a cover letter, and complete the additional information questionnaire online. For all enquiries, please contact Michelle Nicholson on 021 578262.
