The Opportunity: what this role is about?
With recent growth in our services, we have several exciting opportunities to join our Permanent Reliver team as a Support Worker. We have a variety of full time and part time positions available.
As a Support Worker you will work alongside our people to provide day-to-day support. You will be supporting people with disabilities in a range of settings including in their home, out in the community and at our day services. The people we support love getting out into the community, whether its shopping, beach walks, coffee and cake outings, visiting friends, supporting the Crusaders, going to markets and fairs, or heading to the pub for a pint, to name just a few.
The people we support have varying levels of need, and daily tasks vary from service to service but may include cooking, cleaning, medication administration, stores purchasing, personal cares, as well as facilitating community participation, recreational activities, and supporting people to achieve their goals. You may also provide person-centred support in homes where routine is critical; following details plans to meet the needs of the people.
As a Support Worker in the Permanent Reliever Team, you get loads of variety in your role as you will be rostered to work across any of our houses.
If successful you would be offered a contract with a specific number of weekly guaranteed earnings. As we are a 24/7 operation you would be rostered to work across the same days each week, but the actuals hours you work across these days will change from week to week but could include morning, afternoon, night and sleepover shifts, including weekends. You will be guaranteed 60 hours per fortnight and will have the opportunity to pick up extra shifts should you wish to do so.
Flexibility and capability of being able to work across multiple house holds with different need criteria. You will be primarily booked in advance to shifts that need covering, however being a reliever will have times that will be contacted short notice on contracted days of work.
This position's salary scale is set by pay equity and dependant on qualification level pays between $22.49 and $28.25 per hour.

Previous experience supporting people with intellectual disabilities is not a requirement. But you will need a willingness to learn and continue to develop your skills as a support worker.
You must have a full driver’s licence and be eligible to work in New Zealand.
Candidates will need to complete police vetting and Children's Act safety check.
