As the only private surgical hospital in the city, the hospital features advanced theatres and comfortable patient facilities, with 36 inpatient beds, and a dedicated day-stay facility.

The team provides excellent pre and post-operative nursing care across a wide range of elective surgical services, including Orthopaedic surgery, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Oral and Facial Maxillary, Urology, Otolaryngology (ENT), Plastic Reconstructive and Cosmetic surgery, and General and Endoscopic surgery.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We’re on the lookout for an energetic Perioperative Assistant to join our dynamic theatre team and play a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care! You’ll be hands-on in keeping our operating rooms humming — setting up and closing down theatres, turning rooms around quickly between procedures, gathering and preparing equipment for surgeons, and supporting patient movement from the ward to theatre. You’ll also help prep the next day’s surgical lists using surgeon preference sheets, ensuring everything runs like clockwork. If you love fast-paced environments, teamwork, and making a real difference to patients on their surgical journey, this is the role for you!

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • You’re a master organiser with outstanding time-management skills and the ability to juggle tasks like a pro
  • You shine as a communicator — confident, clear, and polished both verbally and in writing
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to working rostered shifts of up to 10 hours, supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care
  • You’ve completed NCEA Level 2 / 6th Form Certificate and are ready to put it to work in a healthcare setting
  • Even better if you bring a Level 3 HCA Certificate — that’s a bonus we’d love to see
  • Experience makes all the difference — ideally you’ll have at least 2+ years in a healthcare environment where you’ve already made a positive impact

  • Competitive Rewards: Attractive remuneration package and employee referral bonus scheme.
  • Health & Wellbeing: Funded health insurance, a comprehensive wellbeing programme, and generous Christmas/New Year breaks.
