Southern Cross Invercargill Hospital is the southernmost private surgical hospital in the Southern Cross network, it is widely known and used by people throughout the Southland and Queenstown-Wakatipu basin areas. The hospital features advanced theatre systems, including robotic orthopaedic surgery. Our highly skilled and caring team provide excellent care to 4200 patients per year. Our elective surgical services include Breast; Endoscopy and Gastroenterology; General; Gynaecology; Ophthalmology; Oral and Maxillofacial; Orthopaedic; Ear Nose and Throat; and Urology surgery. 

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

As our Peri-Anaesthesia Services Manager, you'll play a pivotal leadership role in shaping the patient experience across Preadmissions, PACU, Endoscopy, and Day Stay services. Leading a team of dedicated healthcare professionals, you'll drive the delivery of exceptional patient-centred care, ensuring every patient receives safe, high-quality treatment while balancing operational efficiency and service excellence. Working closely with medical specialists, clinicians, and hospital leaders, you'll build strong partnerships that enhance patient outcomes and support the ongoing success of the service.

You'll ensure compliance with clinical, quality, and health and safety standards while identifying opportunities to improve processes, enhance patient experiences, and optimise service delivery. Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

  • A proven track record of leadership, with at least 5 years' experience leading and inspiring high-performing healthcare teams.
  • Strong clinical credibility, backed by a minimum of 5 years' nursing experience and a passion for delivering exceptional patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success in operational leadership within a hospital environment, balancing clinical excellence with service performance.
  • Experience within the private healthcare sector would be highly regarded.
  • Exceptional people leadership skills, with the ability to build engaged teams, delegate effectively, and create a positive, high-performing culture.
  • Commercial awareness, including experience managing resources, budgets, and service efficiencies.
  • Confidence navigating challenging situations, with strong conflict resolution and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • A current New Zealand Registered Nurse Practising Certificate.
  • PDRP Level 4 (Expert) or equivalent advanced clinical practice experience.
  • A tertiary qualification in Nursing, Management, or a related discipline, supported by postgraduate study.
  • Proven ability to lead teams through change, bringing people together around a shared vision and fostering collaboration across services.
  • Strong clinical leadership skills, with the ability to mentor, coach, and develop others while providing expert guidance and support to clinical teams.
  • A forward-thinking mindset with a passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and driving positive change in healthcare delivery.
